NEOVISION
MedMen created a consortium of three SME companies with complemetary expertise for the development of an innovative product to perform automated General Movement Assessments on newborns. Together with Virtual Physiological Instruments and Embed Engineering we are developing a software platform around 3D vision, motion tracking and statistical analysis. It will enable complex statistical analysis of movements of patients which can then be quantified and translated to diagnostic information.
The first application on this platform is automated General Movement Analysis of newborns. General Movements occur during the first few months after birth and GMA has shown to be a very reliable diagnostic method to determine the neurological status of newborns. However the method is sensitive for operator bias, requires advanced training and therefore remains expensive and limited in use. With help of an automated system, a GMA can be performed anywhere and everywhere against a fraction of the cost.
In this project we are working closely together with prof.dr. A. Bos and his team at the UMC Groningen.
